Dalarna’s First Mountain Hotel

That Storsätra Mountain Hotel would one day have 35 rooms and a relaxation area was something Margit Jonsson could never have imagined when she opened Dalarna’s first mountain hotel in 1939. With only a few rooms and very basic standards, she welcomed her guests to the magnificent mountain world. A few years later, Margit and her brother Hans began to develop the hotel, and during the 1950s, Ralph Erskine, a loyal guest, designed the expansion of the restaurant and lounge area. In 1972, the siblings retired, but new owners continued the modernization and, among other things, built the popular relaxation area.
