Beautiful, Friendly Wilderness
Storsätra Mountain Hotel is located in northern Dalarna, a stone’s throw from the Norwegian border and surrounded by three national parks – right in the vast wilderness of the Grövelsjö Mountains. With easily accessible hiking trails, numerous and long cross-country skiing tracks, wonderful downhill skiing, and excellent mountain fishing, it’s no wonder that many of our guests return year after year.
The landscape is varied and offers both simpler and more challenging experiences. Most of our guests visit us specifically for the excellent hiking, but the mountains have much more to offer than that.
Grövelsjöfjällen offers ten kilometers of cross-country trails that you can easily access directly from the hotel. Choose between easier terrain and more challenging ski tours.

Vast untouched wilderness
The hiking trails, which are marked with crosses, start directly from the hotel and quickly take you up to the bare mountain. The view over Grövelsjön is striking. Take your time to enjoy what you see once you get up there. In the summer, when the sun barely sets, the evening light is something truly special.

Comfortable full board, magnificent hiking
Vast views, small tarns, bubbling streams, and soft mountain heaths. During the hiking week in the Grövelsjö mountains, we take you to the area’s most beautiful places. Experience the majestic views and our wild and equally unbeatable nature when the mountain world is at its most beautiful. Our hiking week includes full board for 7 days and 6 days (week 37) of hiking with a professional guide. The hikes are in collaboration with Experience Grövelsjön and Björn Jonsson.
